Governor Patrick Morrisey announced the statewide launch of West Virginia's Home Energy Rebate programs after a pilot phase that drew more than 300 homeowner applications.

The state received $88 million in federal funding for two programs covering eligible efficiency projects, appliances, and equipment. Assistance varies by household income and the proposed work, and residents must complete the application, assessment, and approval process before beginning a project.

State officials expect the programs to serve about 10,000 homes and produce $3 million to $4.5 million in combined annual savings. The first pilot recipient reported that her first electric bill after the upgrades fell 33.5%, saving $102 for the month.
