Governor Patrick Morrisey announced a grant of more than $2 million to help Ascend WV recruit healthcare professionals from outside West Virginia to rural communities across the state.

The program has a first-year goal of relocating and retaining at least 125 healthcare workers. It is intended to strengthen the workforce behind rural hospitals, clinics, and other providers where staffing shortages can limit access to care.

Ascend WV will help participating professionals navigate relocation, find housing, and connect with peers. Those services are designed to help new workers and their families establish roots in the communities they serve.
